How much does a Squarespace website cost?
By Amy Simpfenderfer ·
It's one of the first questions I hear from small business owners, and the honest answer is that it depends on two things: what you pay Squarespace, and what you pay for the design. Here's how both add up.
1. The Squarespace plan
Every Squarespace site runs on a monthly plan that you pay directly to Squarespace. As of 2026, the plans billed annually are:
- Basic, about $16 a month. A good fit for a simple service business site. Selling online carries a 2% transaction fee.
- Core, about $23 a month. The plan most small businesses land on. No Squarespace transaction fees on physical products or services, plus more marketing tools.
- Plus, about $39 a month, and Advanced, about $99 a month. For shops that sell a lot online and want lower fees and more commerce features.
Paying monthly instead of yearly costs a bit more. Squarespace adjusts its pricing from time to time, so check their pricing page for the latest numbers.
2. Your domain and email
A custom domain (yourbusiness.com) typically runs about $20 to $70 a year depending on the ending. Annual Squarespace plans usually include a free domain for the first year. Professional email through Google Workspace is a separate monthly cost per person.
3. Add-ons you might need
Most small business sites don't need many extras. The common ones are an email marketing plan, scheduling for appointments, or a member area. Each has its own monthly fee, so it's worth deciding up front which ones you'll actually use.
4. The design
This is where prices vary the most. Roughly, you have three options:
- Do it yourself. The lowest cost, but it takes real time, and it can be hard to make a template feel like your brand.
- Buy a template and customize it. A middle ground if you already have a clear brand and good photos.
- Hire a designer. A custom site designed around your brand and customers, written and organized so visitors know what to do next. Depending on the number of pages and whether you need a brand too, this usually ranges from a few thousand dollars up.
At Westhaven, my Brand + Squarespace Sprint starts at $6,800 and includes brand strategy, a logo suite, colors and type, plus a Squarespace site of up to five pages, copy polish and launch, in about three to four weeks. If you already have a brand you love, I also quote website-only projects.
What's worth paying for
A website is often the first impression a customer has of your business. If yours doesn't look as good as your work, or people can't tell what you offer within a few seconds, it's costing you inquiries. Spending on clear design and clear words usually pays for itself faster than spending on extra features.
The short version
Plan on roughly $200 to $500 a year for Squarespace and your domain, plus whatever you invest in design. If you'd like a clear number for your business, tell me about your project and I'll send you a quote.
